The Deadlift

Competition Rules (USAPL)

Some call this lift the "King of all lifts." This lift looks very simple to execute. Any athlete can tell you that it is not. If your form is wrong by even the slightest, you can result in injury. However, should you adhere to quick demonstration on the left, created George Peng, you will find major progress on all your lifts.

Competition Rules:
1. Knees must be locked at "lock-out"
2. You must stand erect with your shoulders back.
3. Your bar cannot ever go down during the lift.
4. You cannot support the bar on your thighs.
5. YOU MUST FOLLOW THE CHIEF REFEREE CALLS.
6. You must set the bar down, not DROP it.
